洛杉矶郡消防局证实，一名消防员在6日清晨的火灾中丧生。
洛杉矶郡消防局介绍，6日凌晨2点左右，警方接到关于派洛斯福德牧场(Rancho Palos Verdes) 火灾的报警电话后，赶到Tarapaca路30700街区的建筑救火。一名消防员在救火时身受重伤，被送往医院后伤重不治。
消防局证实，消防员们从火灾中救出被困的一家人。
消防局临时局长马龙（Anthony Marrone）在当天的记者会上介绍，该消防员被烟雾和大火困住，并在燃烧的房屋内求助。他很快被拉出建筑物并被带到附近的Harbor-UCLA 医疗中心救治，但伤重不治。
该消防员后被证实为47岁的Jonathan Flagler。他是一名拥有 21 年经验的资深消防员，两年前从弗农市消防局调任至洛杉矶郡消防局。

洛杉矶郡督查韩珍妮（Janice Hahn）当天出席了记者会悼念该殉职消防员，他留下妻子和两个年幼的孩子。
This is devastating and my prayers are with his wife and two young sons as well as his friends and colleagues in the Fire Department and everyone that knew and loved him.
His bravery and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

加州州长纽森6日晚间发声明悼念殉职的消防员，并要求加州议会大厦下半旗以纪念他。
消防局表示，起火原因仍在调查中。
